Now we're getting to it. The week began with faculty meetings (most in the stone chapel) at which we discussed all kinds of new ideas and initiatives: student leadership, residential life systems, the length of girls' shorts....
We have fun together, and took the time to play some slow-pitch softball.
Student leaders Gerry and Bowen play a significant role in faculty meetings. Here they introduce a new idea: an activity-based game called The Hornet Games in which clusters of dormitories will compete for points.
The tent attached to the dining room gets lots of use these days, providing needed space for the expanded community. Wednesday evening we met here for the annual Day Family Picnic. Proctor's 78 day students comprise 21% of the student population.
The Day Family Picnic enables new kids to meet returning students, network for rides and connect with advisors. Science teacher Sarah McIntyre '90 chats with a few Andover ninth graders who have parents working at Proctor.

Friday is registration day for new students who will be attending preseason sports camps next week. They'll go on Wilderness Orientation in the White Mountains right away. Admission veteran Charlie Durell explains the schedule to a boy and his family.
