Residential schools go to great lengths to structure student time, and to afford plenty of healthy activities, entertainments and diversions for so-called free time.
So, for example, this Saturday we brought
Dr. Steve Taubman to campus--just the latest in a long list of hypnotists to entrance the student body. It seems that nothing is more hilarious than watching peers under the power of suggestion....
It can also be argued that teenagers need to exercise their ability to find entertainment during down time. It's a skill.
The hour following Saturday morning classes sees students scatter into countless informal pursuits before the afternoon's athletic and artistic activities. Specific advisee groups collect recyclables from dorms and classroom buildings and haul them to dumpsters behind Gannett House.
The lack of snow (and rain since cold temps) makes this a good winter for skating on ponds and lakes.
