Commencement 2008
6/1/2008

Ninety-two seniors graduated Saturday. On Friday evening, we gathered for a gala Senior Dinner at which the chorus performed.

The threat of rain, and a rumble of thunder on Saturday morning put us back in the Field House for Commencement.

Approximately 1000 parents, grandparents, siblings and friends joined students and faculty in the gym.

Board Chair Mark Loehr P'07, P'08, P'09 offered a personal perspective for the Invocation.

Retiring icon Tom Eslick, whose career includes English Department Chair, introduction of Advanced Placement programs, four published novels and coach of the first girls' ice hockey team, delivered a carefully crafted address in which he mused on our strategic visioning process, and the importance of the classic educational skills of reading, writing and research.

Many awards were presented. Caroline Pond '09 announced the winner of the Scott Pond Prize--named for her father--to Lia Arnzen '08.

Finally, we spilled out into the light of day, where emotions flowed freely.

Pride!
