Every summer, this page advances the study of scientists as types--documenting that cellular microbiologists live, dress and behave differently than, say, physical metallurgists. I do this because we have a new group of Gordon Research Conferees every week, so you'd have to try not to notice the obvious. This week, we host 140 Developmental Biologists. These genial characters overdress for the heat, suck down huge quantities of hot, caffeinated beverages, and attract black flies like sugar. Below, a few circle a picnic table before alighting:
Loyal to a fault, Proctor combats alumni unemployment by hiring a slew of graduates. Some, Everett Jones '57, Garry George '78, Sarah Rowe McIntyre '90, Gregor Makechnie '90, Diane Fowler '80, Alex Estin '83, Chris Bartlett '86, Jen Hill Spear '88, Keith Barrett '80, Greg Samaha '71 and Andrew Donaldson '92 are year-round. Other young alumns swell the ranks of Maintenance and GRC staff during the summer. Below, Ian Gill '01 drives the Deere.
Even more alumni are scattered in the area. Here's a group at the summit of Mt. Washington on Sunday.
