Faculty Orientation
8/30/2007

Faculty have been meeting in the Wise Community Center in preparation for the start of the school year. On Tuesday, we broke into groups, exploring strategies to advance the school's core values in concrete ways. How, in my interactions with students, can I better teach responsibility...respect...honesty...compassion? Here's a coffee break.

Part of Wednesday's meeting was dedicated to the upcoming transition of Board Chair from Bill and Betsy Peabody to Mark Loehr. Mike's introduction of Bill drew a standing ovation from a faculty that truly appreciates the Peabodys' commitment, love and clear values.

Bill reflected on the successes of the past three years, and spoke of his excitement that Mark is assuming Board leadership in November.

Mark then spoke of the path that has led him to this place and time, and observed that his focus includes the school's advancement over the next several years. Following lunch, we broke in to groups to tackle community service projects across campus. One team painted the fence bordering Carr Field.

Others tended to garden plots, and tidying up the forestry area. This team tied nets to soccer goals in anticipation of sports camps, which begin Tuesday.

And so, we begin!
