Our campus is a different place in mid-summer. Let's take a look. The area in front of the Meetinghouse is mobbed with Gordon Research conferees, who are talking biology and sipping lots of coffee. A few wander around North Street smoking cigarettes.
Maxwell Savage Hall, home to most adminitrative offices, is dark, but not quiet. Pete and Drew have been in, wrestling with housing; Donna's been scheduling; Karl's touching up the Faculty Handbook; Mike is in. Here, he jokes around with Marti Adams in the Student Activities Office. Marti's preparing advisee lists.
With all of the rain and cool weather this summer, many of the hot-weather vegetables in the organic garden are still immature. The first basil is ready to be harvested now. In this photo, Danny and Alan pose for an upcoming article Kearsarge Magazine.
Nothing's out of the ordinary at Proctor Child Care, except for the presence of a snake (ripe with Biblical symbolism!) lurking safely below the stone wall. These kids are hydrating successfully.
Just across North Street, Leonard Field is getting an upgrade. Sand has been raked over aeration holes to improve drainage, and the entire center strip has been removed for a new sand base and fresh sodding. Go, Proctor football!
Jake's Market takes a hit during the summer, without 300 teenagers purchasing power drinks, chips and candy.
Look for the next update to this page on August 2. (I'm outta here!)
