In a public tribute to the Hinkleys and Carvalhos (which you can hear on an assembly netcast by clicking Patty Pond's assembly on the frontpage,) I mentioned the unexpected value of a faculty that likes itself....that works together and plays together. Just one example of this is the faculty coffee house offered several times each week at the Forestry Shed, known as the Java Hut.
Another example is the annual Red Sox game, organized by Patty Pond, which brings 100 members of Proctor Nation to Red Sox Nation. It happened Sunday.
If you buy a hundred tickets, you get to have a member of your group honored at home plate before the first pitch. Dani Hinkley, who is an avid fan, was the obvious (but surprise) choice. This is the Jumbotron:
