As suggested in a previous page, Project Period sets up a possibly ideal educational environment, as a small group of students focuses, in depth, on a teacher's passion. The intensity of pursuit, however, demands energy that is simply not sustainable. We become exhausted, and welcome a weekend of rest. As the hours wind down, quilt makers work in teams to finish their colorful creations.


Friday was a time to bring closure. For many, it was a time to demonstrate and perform. A story-telling group enchanted third and fourth graders with skits, led by a true master, Won-ldy Paye, here sharing a Liberian folk tale.

So used to television, high-tech movies and video games, they were enraptured....
