The Governor has appointed a 12-man task force to look into replacing The Old Man with something. He's given them 4 months to solve the problem. It is at times like these that we consider what it is that motivates people. Educators address this constantly. Working with 330 teenagers we know that everyone responds to different drivers.

Love of learning...grade grubbing...college admission...threat avoidance (getting out of Mando). How about these three: drumming up interest in assembly for kids to choose Eco-dorm for next year....

Teachers need to be flexible in their use of motivators to maximize the performance of a diverse population. Here Learning Lab teachers Rick Browner and Michael Littmann demonstrate two styles:
