Each of us is finding our own way to come to grips with The Old Man of the Mountain's unexpected loss of face this weekend. (See comments from the previous Corner.)

Tour buses are searching for new roadside attractions, and traffic volume heading out of state is reported to be heavy. Here on campus, opinions range from ignorance to resignation to active support. This group--highly aware of The Profile--spoke as one: "This is what rocks are supposed to do."

On Saturday the trustees voted to proceed immediately with construction of the Ruby and William Wise Community Center in the site of Holland Auditorium. Bill, who graduated from Proctor 64 years ago, made this dream a reality through his loving generosity. Here he is with Sarah and Steve Wilkins at Saturday's trustee dinner:

Question: Why is Ethan doffing his shoe in the Math Department Office next to a skateboard and other shoes?

Answer: You have to leave something of great value if you want to borrow a graphing calculator for class.

Aaron and Moritz are coping pretty well with the tragedy Friday evening before the Spring Formal.

Patrick, a Californian, had never heard of it, but saw the new profile coming back from Gould Sunday. It needs a new name.
Not coping at all well. "It's a tragedy, dude. That thing was like... a monument!"
The lobby to the left will become the new "front door" to the school, with administrative offices conjoining student recreation spaces.
Built in 1958 as an adition to Maxwell Savage Hall, Holland Auditorium will become the Wise Community Center.
