The epicenter of New Hampshire ski racing Sunday was our own Blackwater, where we hosted 215 of the state's very best for the Bud Lauridsen Memorial Macomber Cup.
This is a monumental, annual event, and our ski staff and Hill Management team always get kudos for pulling off highest quality competitions at Proctor. This year, however, is different, because so many events have been cancelled due to poor conditions. Many skiers drove to Andover this morning expecting more of the same. But those who know Garry George and the snow making team here know that more of the same is the very best.
The hill was in the best shape imaginable, given light rain and sleet. Words of praise came from the Carnival, or varsity, teams from Dartmouth, UNH and Colby-Sawyer, and high schools across New Hampshire. Below, Dartmouth's racing team cheers on their racers.
Yarrow's Lodge was swarmed with hungry skiers and their families.
Several Proctor skiers had great performances today, including Geoff Bonewald '09, Ryan Bishop '08 and Bridget Gilroy '09.
