We have had the pleasure of supporting several truly honorable teams in recent years. This year's girls' varsity soccer squad continues to linger in memory for its tenacity and character, as it stole the league championship. Then there's the undefeated football team...the strongest alpine ski team in history...this winter's hockey teams (more to come on this site in the future,) the strong girls' varsity basketball team (more to come,) and boys' varsity basketball, which just swept three games in a holiday tournament.

This squad has caught my attention in recent years, and previous webpages dedicated to its character include Principles and Leaders, Tribute To a Team and last year's Real Victories. Gregor Makechnie's assistant is first-year coach Scott Allenby, pictured behind Matt Williams, Tommy Moyon and Orlando Aponte.

This team features boys from extraordinarily different places working together very well. A boarding junior from Grantham, New Hampshire, James Cormier delivers a two-hand pass on the fly.

James is a penetrating guard who can play tenacious defense.

Players talk to one another in the moments between action, and I love to think of the accents and dialects involved. A brilliant, no-look passer, Senior Christian Yemga is from Aounde, Cameroon. Here, he spots Phill breaking underneath.

Phill Wait, of Macclesfield, Cheshire, England, has matured as a power in the middle, blocking shots and scoring with finesse.

A four-year star from Providence, R.I. Anthony Fortes is explosive and tough.
Phill has a soft touch from outside.
Waiting on D against Canterbury School (CT).
Another two-way player from Cheshire, England: Matt Williams.
A sophomore day student from New London, Nick Aiken came in to make two steals in two minutes against Canterbury.
Young depth: junior Raymon Beach (Landover, Maryland) and freshman Orlando Aponte (Lawrence, Massachusetts.)
James gets congratulated by Tabor's very cool coach.
