Cultural Boston
3/30/2003

One of the thirty-five projects that finished up Friday, (this one under the leadership of Lee Carvalho,) explored the culture of Boston. Highlights included La Rondine at Boston's Lyric Opera, a rehearsal by the New England Conservatory (under the baton of our friend Ben Zander), a backstage tour of Symphony Hall, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Ballet Company's All Balanchine, symphony by BSO and a walking tour of Boston's architecture. Today's photos are from the latter event. Most were taken by my senior advisee, Mo, who is seen below (right) on the walking tour.

The architectural tour was lead by a woman named Rita, who brought the city's diverse styles to life.

Architecture is not the point in this photo. It's the Ferrari to which John has taken a liking:

Mo's plans are interesting. In his second year at Proctor from Wenden, Germany, he is deferring his admission to Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia)--where he will study business--for a year of community service--teaching English and computer science to children in Yaounde, Cameroon.

The old John Hancock building reflected by the new.
Trinity Cathedral at Copley Square. That's Lee in the middle.
Mo didn't remember what this tower was, only that sculptures encircle the upper facades.
