Girls' Roundball
3/5/2006
Both boys basketball and boys hockey had hard fought games Sunday. Boys basketball lost 73-72 to St. Andrews. Boys hockey lost to Hebron 5-3. Both were nail biting matchs with terrific play.

Other teams may have received more attention this winter, but the girls' basketball program is the strongest it has been in memory. The varsity finished with a record of 12 wins and 8 losses, and benefitted from strong senior leadership. Sophomore Pinky Fifield (one of six 10th graders on the squad!) with a jumper:

Coaches Noreen Fifield and Megan Hardie set a very positive tone, and Megan notes, "Feedback from our faculty was awesome, about FINALLY seeing some great girls basketball here. Also, the feedback from some coaches of stronger was really rewarding."

The depth of the program was easy to witness on the junior varsity, which played every minute with the intensity of a varsity game.

The varsity demonstrated its character through three community service projects, raising money for local, needy kids, and offering clinics with fifth and sixth grade girls. Below, Noreen greets girls from Andover Elementary & Middle School.

And here we see a passing drill with varsity girls mixed with young kids.

Selected to the league All Star Team, Pinky's a blur....
Comprised largely of seniors and sophomores, the team's future looks strong.
Varsity players encouraged every shot by local 5th and 6th graders.
