Saturday was a banner day at Proctor, with glorious fall weather, the presence of Trustees, Corporation Board members and Honored Alumni, and several successful home games. The love and commitment of Trustees and senior alumns is largely hidden from students, yet it is through their leadership and generosity that the school advances positively through time. Trustees enjoyed a presentation by master planning professionals who analyzed campus open spaces, traffic flow, gateways and the school's signature "New England village" composition.
Between meetings, we gathered at the entrance to the new north wing of historic Slocumb Hall for a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Geoff Morris '62, whose passion and generosity made this project a reality, Head of School Mike Henriques, Board Chair Mark Loehr and Patrice Martin, whose dreams for photography labs and classrooms have come true.
Tim Miner P'09, Patrice Martin, Academic Dean Doug Houston and Trustee Richard Parker applaud Geoff Morris's remarks, which referenced the many years that the project has been under consideration.
After lunch, girls' soccer teams took on Kimball Union.
The field hockey team huddled in the south goal at half time.
On Leonard Field, varsity football unleashed an electrifying running game to defeat Hyde School 35-0.
Tenth grade quarterback Craig Chalifour gave us a glimpse of the future.
Fans swarmed around The Hornet to support the team.
Going back to a Trustee meeting earlier in the day, the master planner observed that we are simply stewards of this special place....here today to ensure the quality and character of a school that will serve students decades from now. It is comforting to consider that that school is in our vision today, and in the hearts and minds of the Trustees, alumni and friends who dedicated a Saturday in October to make dreams come true.
Proctor was all boys from 1933-1970. A member of the Class of 1932, Mariann Andrews Hinkley was back and enjoyed the opening of the new photography wing at Slocumb Hall.
