Heavy Lifting.
Always looking for able hands, the Maintenance Department hires a few local kids to help over vacations. To the casual observer, Ovid Rochon '00 and Ian Gill '01 appear to be employed to drive around campus and the village waving and smiling at folks--as some kind of a good-will service. Nothing could be further from the truth. I followed them around this morning to discern the truth.
Ovid paws a sugar jelly doughnut while Gillie maws a chocolate-dipped over coffee break. A half hour later, it's back to the ol' grindstone. Here they are going at it--full bore--moving chairs in the dining room. They have a plan: One at a time minimizes risk of injury.
A cheerful whistle-while-you-work style distinguishes their travails.
