May Day's roots are grounded in pagan bacchanalia.
We brought in singer/song writer Matt Nathanson '91 to entertain both in assembly and in the Chapel for May Day Eve. Matt's talents extend beyond his music to fantastic stage presence. He's witty, transparent, loving of Proctor, and is--in turn--loved by Proctor students.
His songs reflect love won and lost, and the effect on the community was immediate and pervasive. Dave and Adam had no trouble expressing their feelings:
Dan and Lucia got my attention by announcing their marriage plans in Room 9 just before E Block. After the photo, I instructed them on filling out an Engagement Permission form with signatures due from advisors, dorm parents etc., and they commenced bickering and called it off.
From the camera of Drama Tech maven Alessandro Morosani comes this image of loving hands from the current production of West Side Story.
