By the time Mel Torme wrote "The Christmas Song," I believe that the American Chestnut had been eliminated from this continent by blight. Nevertheless, chestnuts roasting over open fires sounds good, and Eric Viandier's French 4 class set up a make-shift hibachi outside Maxwell Savage this morning, and did it.

The Sports Medicine class spent the morning investigating human reflexes by taking turns hammering sensitive body parts and joints. In this photo, Justin Donaldson--expecting to be smitten on the right elbow--responds to a strong, surprize blow to the left kneecap:

When Stevie Martinez applied to Proctor four years ago through the Lawrence Boys' Club, his eighth grade guidance counselor--assuming that he would remain in a Lawrence street gang wrote, "Stevie will never live to be sixteen." This is what The Blackwater River looked like from the Lawrence Street bridge two months ago.
This is the river after three inches of relatively warm rain has washed away our precious snow. The Blackwater Ski Area is up to the left.
