Courts Time
4/19/2002

Steve Wilkins, Chris & Kit Norris and I flew to Atlanta yesterday to join a Friends of Proctor reception at the home of Lynda and Richard Courts. These lovely people sent four terrific sons to Proctor: Malon '87, Richard '89, Brad '91, and Clay '93. (Clay is a family name, and was not chosen over "Grass" or "Asphalt.")

Following remarks by Steve and Campaign Chair Mark Cangiano, Steve asked for spontaneous testimonials from the alumni present. The result was most effective, heartfelt, genuine and loving. Lynda observed that each of her sons came to Proctor a distinct individual with a different mix of styles and talents, and that each was able to flourish in the environment found here. Below are Greg Samaha '71, Rick Lucas '71, and Matteo Moore '72:

I enjoyed getting reacquainted with Clay...

We thank the Courts family for their hospitality and kindness.

Hired to cater the event, this guy belted out a few Gershwin tunes.
Steve spoke about the school's enduring values.
Mark Cangiano and Jay Goulart found humor in some comment.
Clay Courts graduated in 1993. Nick Newell would have graduated in 1948 if we hadn't thrown him out. Today he is a beloved trustee.
In Atlanta, Coke's the one!
