Intellectualizing Experience
4/28/2004

The Placement Directors of twelve "feeder schools" will visit Proctor later this afternoon, when half the school is away playing sports at other schools. Steve will sit with them in the library and provide an intellectual introduction to a school that is commited to experiential education. It won't be easy. They'll miss Sarah McIntyre's zoology class setting off for a fieldtrip to area wetlands. First, a turkey sandwich:

They missed my advisee dinner at Concord's Big Apple Buffet, an establishment dedicated to gluttony.

I missed Josh strangling Michael in the back seat while Michael was feeling sick and misbehaving.

That photo was taken by Drew, a senior who commandeered my Nikon D-100 and entertained himself on the ride back to Andover by shooting artsy photos of the local landscape.

Our visitors will gain only an intellectual understanding of the off campus programs. Here's part of our crew in Segovia hurtling through space at a parque de atracciones.

Our visiting placement directors missed Brooks's surveying class this morning.
Sarah McIntyre's zoology class analyzed water quality and completed a basic census of wetland insects.
Drew entertained himself with artsy photos like this one, entitled Mirror With Me In It.

Route 4 at 50 miles per hour.
Crepuscule at 50 miles per hour.
Proctor students in Spain enjoying pizza and Coca-Cola (?!?).
While Nacho, a Segovian living in Andover, prepares a traditional Spanish paella for Proctor Day Care kids.
The sun is casting a shadow, but Mike and Nick have been watching the Weather Channel, and know better.
"Hey, I gotta go. I'm studying in the library."
