Adult Perspectives
4/9/2002

Campus and classrooms were crowded yesterday as forty students and their families revisited.

We send the kids off to classes with current students and march the parents around to relatively contrived discussions, presentations and talks. The result, I suspect, is that the adults come away from the visit with...well...a different experience. Anne Swayze does a super job moderating a panel discussion, communicating much caring, understanding and wisdom.

The panel fields questions ranging from academic details to disciplinary responses, off-campus programs, college counseling, technology, and health education.

What do visiting students see? We can't really know, but the images at the right capture a few unguarded moments....

In assembly, we held the annual mouth sounds competition. Here, once again, Tom Eslick mimicks a horse galloping over a bridge.
Elliot and John monitor human behavior from a social science classroom.
Jed chips from a neighbor's lawn to a gang outside the lunch room who compete to catch the ball.
John gets carried away.
This diligent tour guide (left) wants his visitor to get the total experience, and heads directly to Jake's Market.
