The first full day of spring dawned to eight inches of fresh snow here in Winchester, NH where the project I am leading is stationed. Nine students, rookie English phenom Ryan Flynn and I arrived at this renovated farm house yesterday via rental minivans. We command a south-facing hill near the conjoining of New Hampshire, Vermont and Massashusetts. It is from here that we intend to live and eat well, and it is from here that we will launch daily excursions to the finest museums. The first order of business was to test the hot tub:

The electricity went out just as the tenderloin of beef was hoisted from the grill, and the farfalle and vegetable stirfry dish was served. When the lights came on at about midnight, a spontaneous snowball fight ensued (I am told.) This morning there's time for a ski, another dip in the tub, and some chorizo before setting forth for Williamstown and MassMOCA.

Filet mignon by candlelight.
Our home for five days: somewhere on a hilltop.
Dawn after snow.
