Three varsity teams have been selected to compete in post-season championship tournaments starting Wednesday. For the second year in a row, girls’ ice hockey earned 8th seed in the Division 2 Championships, and will face off against 1st seed Gunnery School at Groton at 4:30. Girls’ hockey finished the regular season with 10 wins, 8 losses.

Boys’ ice hockey received the 6th seed and will face off against 3rd seed Brunswick School at Pomfret (time to be determined). Both previous losses to Brunswick came in overtime, and last time we played very well. This team finished with a record of 18 wins, 7 losses and 1 tie….the best record for boys’ hockey in memory.

Boys’ basketball received 8th seed in the Class A Championships, and play 1st seed New Hampton at Endicott College at 8 PM. Not playing due to injury will be Derrick Harris, shown receiving team MVP honors at Monday’s sports assembly with coaches Kate Talkington, Gregor Makechnie ’90, and niece Imani. Derrick--one of ten seniors graduating--will play for Youngstown State next year.

A highlight of yesterday’s assembly was recognition of a gutsy and proud Girls’ Varsity hoops team that played game after game with pride and spirit while--too often--scores mounted against them.

Congratulations, all.

Glenn "Frenchy" Robichaud--receiving MVP award from coach Toby Gibbons--scored five goals in a row in his last game--a 7-2 win over Pomfret.
Marvin Award winner Cole Burnham leads his team into the play-offs.
