An admission-sponsored "open house" drew three dozen prospective applicants and their families--many from good distances--for a morning of campus tours, class observations and student panel discussions Saturday morning. Hosting 100 visitors is a welcome challenge. But what do they see? Their perspective remains one of distance!
They can not see what I see on a campus tour, with camera in hand, infiltrating classes like this AP Biology.
And this Calculus class:
Some extra time for Physics:
In Mikaela's French 2 class, I find students--working in tag teams--intensely focussed on verb conjugations on the whiteboard.
In math, Alex is multi-tasking.
Over in the boathouse, Greg's helping Max with a random-orbit sander.
If every family that visited Proctor spent time with Patrice Martin, they would have a more complete understanding of this school, simply because she teaches more students than anyone else!
Visiting an English class for ninth graders is an exhilarating experience. Their social energy is explosive.
Things are happening.....
One ninth grader--who will remain nameless--comandeers my Nikon D100 and shoots some truly stunning images.
