I offered a trip to Boston yesterday. The idea of four hours in Beantown proved so popular that we had to find two more mini-bus drivers. Forty-two kids--some armed with skateboards-- packed into three vans from brunch, and we dropped 'em off at Quincy Market at noon.

I gave the kids a good-behavior pep talk and my cell phone number in case they got into trouble and couldn't make it back for pick-up at 4. Actually, I said, "Call me if you're arrested and end up in jail...." That was my mistake. Several kids arrived 20 minutes late for pick-up. When I said "Why didn't you call the cell number?" they pointed out that they had not been arrested. My bad.

Meanwhile, the Ocean Classroom crowd packed up from the Mountain Classroom building and moved on to the Spirit of Massachusetts in Fairhaven.

They will spend the next six weeks together aboard that 131-foot schooner. If ever attitude was everything, it is now. They set sail this morning for Mystic, CT., and thence on to Beaufort. I'll keep you posted.

Evan found a gecko near the pond.
Leonardo di Caprio he is not.
