Building Bridges

Monday's assembly began with lots of attention to health issues. After the Health Referral System was introduced in detail, we learned about preventative measures for Staph infections. Then we got down to business, as students (who had bought lottery tickets for this opportunity) threw pies into the faces of adults . You know, it's not every school at which you see the Head of School covered with whipped cream.....

This was a fundraiser, although we were not reminded of the cause. All that mattered was the pie throwing.

I don't know if cream pies are a health risk, but we now know that being in close proximity can be one. This is the dining room at lunch.

If the old adage that an apple a day is good for one's health, we may have nothing to worry about. The Student Activities Office puts out dozens of them after assemblies, with peanut butter and crackers on the side.

The health advice we received this morning advocated hot water and soap, prompt laundering of clothes and hand washing. This is the common room in MLS.

Let's get into classrooms. Here's Harris proving his points in honors algebra 2.

These Spanish 2 students are preparing to present projects on the novel Casi Se Muere.

This is a learning skills class with Dale, who has a broken wrist.

Here's a healthy environment: Woods Team has been spending afternoons building a bridge over a muddy stream crossing the Wilson's Wonder ski trail (which descends from Ragged Mountain Ski Area to our campus.)

This team has evolved over the decades from the Improvement Squads of the 1940s, that served the school when a Buildings & Grounds Department was not affordable. Today, the Woods Team completed the bridge, for the benfit of skiers and snowmobilers. They're proud of their work.
