Let's meet Andy Donaldson.
9/19/2000

I first met Andy Donaldson ’92 when he interviewed for admission about 12 years ago. He was an appealing little fellow with high aspirations for competitive skiing. Andy went on to be a successful student/athlete, and in college became one of the nation’s preeminent bicycle racers. Today, Andy is an intern in the Admission Office, a Learning Lab instructor, ski and cycling coach, and dorm parent. I was patient enough to get this hideously unattractive photo of him shoveling his lunch today.

At lunch he referred to his diminutive Morton house apartment as "the Manhattan Flat," meaning that there are some people in Manhattan who would be happy to have it. (I didn’t ask him to name them.) To add to the mystique of living like a derelict, he uses a cardboard box for a coffee table, and has plenty of trash scattered around the floor. I’m pretty sure it’s all for the effect.

Like other young bachelors I know, Andy doesn’t have time to waste on housekeeping. He has this ingenious invention that saves on kitchen clean-up time: a shower curtain that conveniently keeps dirty dishes out of sight…where they belong.

"That's where my kitchen is."

Welcome to my world...
