A Gift of Time
11/2/2001

I am duty officer today, which means that I run assembly and do dishes with my advisees. Here we are, looking a little intimidating:

During World War II, a pretty Italian girl met and fell in love with an American soldier from Andover, NH named Chet Shampney. After the war, Chet returned to northern Italy to ask Linda to marry him. She did. They settled back here in Andover, where Chet became (eventually) the police chief. Actually, I think he became the whole police department. Anyways, Linda landed a job at Proctor Academy, and started working here in September 1951, when I was three months old. Today in assembly, I had the chance to let the community thank Linda for the gift of time she has given us.

Speaking of lovely people, our group in Segovia sends this image of Jenny having something done to her hair with aluminum foil....

Must be a Spanish thing.

Carter is promoting a dangerous kind of golf/polo after lunch.
There is still plenty of color at the edge of the pond.
