Arrival.
Orientation is over. Sports camps have ended. Returning students moved in this afternoon, and dorms are meeting this evening. We're starting.
Surveys of alumni/ae have indicated that Proctor's Wilderness Orientation is the single most significant experience the school offers. It is the ultimate introduction. The friendships forged over the last five days will always be. Judging by the way groups returned today, we have convened a very special group of young people. Of course, they have enjoyed the best weather since we started this in 1972! Terminating the experience is a special moment.
Patty Pond brings some closure to a great camping experience.
Jim Cox with a few last words of encouragement. This must be the largest population of new students in Proctor history, and they look to be a strong and confident crowd.
Meanwhile, approximately 45 athletes completed conditioning camps today. Football, cross-country, field hockey, and boys' and girls' soccer teams have enjoyed great weather for preseason work.
