New Hampshire National Guard Bravo Company--just up from exhaustive work at Ground Zero--led hundreds of students, parents, faculty and friends in Saturday morning's Toys For Tots Funwalk.
They marched the 5K route--known to generations of alumni as "The Cornfield Loop"--in a double-time cadence just as a cold front blew through with gusty winds and rain.
The weather improved quickly for afternoon athletic contests that included victories for 3rd soccer and varsity field hockey. JV boys soccer had a thrilling come-from-behind tie against KUA, and football beat Vermont 14-0 to remain undefeated and unscored-upon.
The highlight of the weekend was Livingston Taylor, who performed the inaugural concert in the Norris Family Theater. Liv waxed repeatedly about the beauty of this facility, and asked us to consider all of the concerts and performances that will grace this space in the future. The acoustics, lighting, and overall ambience are superb. J.T. wasn't there, though, so our own Jay Goulart stepped forward to croon a duet with Liv, bringing 300-plus to their feet.
Another ovation followed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" with the Proctor Chorus providing harmony.
