Signs of School.
The first waves of panic experienced by teachers as summer ends is usually prompted by the premature coloration of “swamp maples.” Not so this year—for several reasons. First, local maples are remarkably verdant for this late date. This year, the onset of school is predicted more blatantly: we see Lee Carvalho guiding new faculty through their orientation process:
Even more upsetting is Nelson's Watershed Ecology class, which is getting a huge headstart on the school year through a week dedicated to experiential field study while living (on campus!!) in the Eco-dorm. Here they are visiting local organic farmer Peter Zack:
