I have no complaints. When I get away, I live on a boat on Nantucket Sound. This week, we checked out Stage Harbor, Chatham.

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration must be a model of federal dysfunction. As you know, they maintain continuous weather broacasts on dedicated radio bands. Instead of using technology to bring us more meaningful insights into what's going on, they have dehumanized their services with a robotic voice that must be reading some digitized text. The robot's voice has no clue about inflection--at least not for the English language--so you have to process the weather forecast knowing it's coming from a machine that has a silly accent.

We keep our boat in a different kind of community. The homes are large, and the grounds are well-kept. The air reeks of imported bark mulch and fecund putting greens. One fellow in town was arrested last week for hitting his wife and threatening his son with a belt. The subsequent court injunction banishes him to the guest house or boat house--except when they are hosting parties together...like the exclusive bash she is throwing for his birthday. Interesting ethics. Sycophants will still attend the party because he's worth about 650 million.
