After graduating most of his team last year, boys' basketball coach Gregor Makechnie has been warning us not to expect much this winter. Yesterday, in their opener at Governor Dummer, Proctor scored 109 points. But I wasn't in South Byfield. I was at the new rink watching boys' varsity ice hockey beat the State Champs from Concord High School, 3-1. Here, Phil Nazair of Tide Head, New Brunswick, flips a backhander by the Crimson Tide netsmith for his first tally.

If you look closely between Phil's knees, you may see the puck as it crosses the line for his second score.

This was the second win for Mike Walsh's bladesters in 24 hours, as they edged perennial powerhouse Hebron Academy 2-1 in overtime Friday afternoon. Both games drew large crowds of students, who went away happy.

Junior phenom Josh Robertson scored just 22 seconds into OT Friday to notch the win for the green bees.

At the final horn, teammates mob sophomore goalie Albie Sears.
Good game. Good game.
A couple of happy fans.
