Process brings change.
Most of the qualities that make this school unique are born of the same source. The distinctive, open democracy that empowers the faculty to craft school policies is best witnessed at the end of the year meetings... when wholesale changes are considered and discussed. We just completed two days of marathon meetings in the auditorium enacting some significant changes. Below, Nelson Lebo, Pete Southworth, and Lynne Hueber huddle over a new-and-improved dress code policy that simplifies everything:
In addition, we amended the weekly schedule to include four "ensemble blocks" dedicated to expanding student involvement in music. Here we see Brian Kellogg sprinting for some 2001-02 calendars at one chaotic moment:
Then we created an afternoon activity for small groups of sophomores out at Elbow Pond to continue the health-through-humanities program that currently benefits ninth graders. Below we vote for something, looking like a Benny Hinn revival:
We also dedicated several hours to discussion of the role of athletics at Proctor. While the rest of the prep school world seems to be going crazy over athletic recruitment, we are looking for the balance that will enable our players to experience sports in line with our values.
