The Dark Underside
11/26/2002

When school is in session, the lens is drawn to images of adolescents and their teachers going about their daily business. Here are some lads returning from Jake's last Thursday:

Bereft of such distraction today, one is drawn to the inner workings of the place... the pulse of Buildings & Grounds.... It looks like a good sized meteorite is cooling in a crater next to the Chapel. The authorities have cordoned off the site with snowfence and police tape.

On closer inspection, a steam valve is leaking badly, but the parts got lost in shipment, or the contractor is dragging his/her heels.

Some may be surprised to know that the Proctor Block building--home to Admissions and Development--is inhabited by a bunch of rats. Or it was, at least. We have reason to believe that at least one of our intruding rodents is singing with the Heavenly Choir. Once again, the contractor (this one belongs to the rodent-removal guild) is disappointing us.

Something's cooling down in that pit.
I don't know anything about steam valves, but this one looks like it's going to blow any second.
No problem over at the steam boilers.
Will Ames maintains direct communication with the B&G crew while monitoring the rat access hole.
I'm going to guess it's too late to lure it out.
Bill opens the wall some more and searches with the flash.
Charlie has scented candles (this one is particularly successful at countering the odor,) but--let's be honest--she's bumming.
