A week from today I will introduce three alumni to the community in assembly. Trask Pfeifle '89, Mark Maloney '90 and Katie Hildner '91 will speak briefly of Teddy Maloney's life at Proctor, and will invite the entire school to attend the dedication of the new rink in his name Saturday at 4 PM. You are invited, too. Here is Teddy with his mom and sister (both Sallys) and brother Mark after a lacrosse game in 1988.
Teddy's friends stayed very close after their graduation from Proctor, and will be here in full force. Below, Gunnar Whitehead, Rhys Brooks and Teddy prepare to march at graduation.
Also in attendence will be the entire Rye Roadrunners hockey team (check their site: The Friendship Cup)
...who will play a game against a makeshift Proctor squad after the dedication excercises. Teddy's wife Brinley and her two daughters will drop the puck in the pregame ceremony, and the Proctor Chorus will sing the National Anthem. Below, Sally and Eddy Maloney beam with pride.
Trask, Mark and Katie are just a few of the alumni, parents and friends who made this project a reality. Teddy died on September 11, 2001 on the 105th floor of Tower 1 at the WTC where he worked as an account manager for Cantor Fitzgerald. For the Maloney family, and all of us who needed to find something positive out of this tragedy, next Saturday will be cathartic. We are expecting well over 300 at the Teddy Maloney Rink, and hope that you are able to join us.
