Water Resources
9/27/2002

It is raining today for the first time in memory. To celebrate, let's look at some images with the loose theme of water resources. Ninth graders' science includes studying the waters on Proctor's 3000 acres. In addition to several remote ponds and streams, these include the Blackwater River as it courses through the floodplain at the foot of the ski area. Stopping at the swing bridge recently, students found the mighty Blackwater reduced to a trickle.

That didn't stop them from analyzing water temperature and quality while taking measurements for new, detailed mapping of the area.

The organic garden east of Leonard Field is fed with composted food wastes from our own dining room. It is prolific, and has been supplying the salad bar with produce for months. Students harvest crops as a community service.

Students are playing an unsanctioned game on campus (yes, during school hours) in which a kid hunts down and "assassinates" another specific student using water guns. Below, Christian takes aim on an unsuspecting target:

Thank God it's raining!

Mark picks "wicked hot" habanero peppers in the organic garden with a purpose.
In front of the whole school, he invites School Leader Aaron Schlosser to eat one. Aaron rose to the challenge.
Ever vigilant, Bruce keeps an eye out as he enters Shirley Hall for biology.
Visiting families on admission tours witness surprising things.
