Questions of Character
9/19/2002

The bonds of loyalty to one’s alma mater run strong; or so you would think…. Proctor graduates return to our fair campus frequently, to reconnect with former teachers…to see changes in facilities…to renew friendships at reunions. So it came as more than a shock to many of us to find none other than Caroline Heatley ’91 pacing the sidelines of Farrell Field Wednesday afternoon coaching the girls varsity soccer team from Lawrence Academy!

What does it tell us about the human condition that “Heater” (as she was affectionately known until now) could strategize against the Green & White of Proctor Academy?

Lee Carvalho joined Alumni Association President Alex Estin in a spontaneous intervention…just trying to reason with her…but to no avail.

How quickly our allegiances fade when it comes to matters of employment! Oh, did I mention that I graduated from Lawrence Academy?

They had another coach, so it's not like she had to do it....

My daughter did her best despite Heater's contrary designs.
Alumni Association President Alex Estin rushed over to reason with our prep school Benedict Arnold....
Our girls fought valiantly against my alma mater.
