Ducks, Hens, Goats and New Faculty
8/22/2002

There's no book to tell you how to start a school year. It seems that people suddenly assume appropriate roles and do what needs to be done. Steve hosted the administrative team for a breakfast meeting at his home to brainstorm the agenda for opening faculty meetings.

In her role as new faculty mentor, Lee Carvalho has fashioned a tight orientation program that includes panel discussions, a scavenger hunt, and a delightful reception at the home of Pete Southworth's family and surviving pets.

These new teachers bring an amazing set of talents and experiences to Proctor (work with youth-at-risk, victim advocate for underprivileged in Boston, teaching at other prep schools, coaching championship hockey teams) but the highlight of the evening was Ethel, who was originally raised for a special dinner with gravy and orange sauce but won a stay of execution through love.

Ethel repeats something that sounds like "AFLAC!!"

Renown cook and Head of School Steve Wilkins whips up some scrambled eggs and sausage links for his administrative team. Is he trying to kill us?
At the administrative meeting all eyes were on Director of Admission Chris Bartlett, to see if he measured up. He did OK...the jury's still out.
Blair Southworth served up some tasty meatballs made from a very local goat whose name I forget.
What insurance did you recommend?
