The Big Night.

Thursday was the big night for my Gourmet Classroom project group, as they prepared their finest meal for Bert's bridge building project at Mountain Classroom. They also watched the movie The Big Night, which you should see when you're hungry. Some of the highlights of this gluttonous event are pictured at right. Meantime, here is the scene in a steamy sugarhouse, as Dave Pilla's project did their sweet work:

Andrew Groman's smoked salmon crostinis with red onions, capers, and mayo. The baguette bread is home-made, of course.
Bobby Dunbar's marinated salmon and swordfish K-babs, ready for the grill.
Merlin Backus pan sears marinated steak au poivre.
Sam Dunkel's superb Tiramasu in the fridge: chocolate Nilla wafers, marscapone cheese blended with heavy cream, all brushed with a coffee/rum sauce.
