Retreat-a-topia
6/27/2002

Jay brought the results of our personality preference tests to the Development Office's annual Retreat-a-topia in North Hatley, Quebec. It turns out that I'm the type of person who finds meetings to plan the future to be boring. Just the jargon gives me the creeps; my blood pressure skyrockets at the mention of "Housekeeping Details" and "Nuts & Bolts." Anyways, it was a great experience....full of hard work...and I'm certain that we are all better for it. Here is a "Breakout Session" on Lou's dock:

We engaged in exercises to identify the words and concepts that drive every part of our work as we customize relationships with our constituents. For example, we ask "What do we want our donors to experience each time we communicate with them?"

Perhaps, "You're a TIGER!"

Check back on Monday for "Adventure to Ripplecove."

We passed Customs with little trouble, despite Keith Barrett's attempts to yuck it up with Canadian officials.
Lou's house overlooks lovely Lac Massawippi.
We work hard on what our donors experience.
A positive attitude is key to successful relationships.
And in the process, we become closer as professionals.
Who says Proctor is short on traditions? That's our Head of school (left) striding into P&H Truck Stop (exit 17 in Wells River, VT) for the traditional homeward-bound breakfast...
...of corned beef hash with sunnysides and plenty of ketchup.
Too soon, our productive time in Canada comes to an end....
