This was like the script for one of those impossible dream movies: positive, spirited fans cheering on the underdogs...who trail throughout the game (by as many as 14 points)...the opposing highly explosive team's fans targeting specific Proctor players for jeers and negativity. This was a community victory (and arguably the biggest win in Proctor sports history) as our fans--demonstrating the best in sportsmanship--raised the level of everyone's play. Late in the game, Sophomore Dave Shepherd--angry at himself for a bad pass--tossed in two critical three-pointers...giving Proctor a slim lead, and opening up the middle for Tyrell Dortch's subsequent lay-ups.
Jack Jenkins may have been over-defended by Tabor, whose fans seemed to think was our single star.
Proctor school spirit carried the day.
Responding to the pressure, Derrick Harris sunk five free-throws in the final minute in front of delerious Green fans to ensure a 63-58 win, and the New England Class B championship for Proctor.
