In my opinion, Proctor is a distinctly generous school to its employees. I could cite lots of examples, but consider this: if you stick around long enough, opportunities present themselves for professional advancement within the system. So it is that Jen and David Fleming will be spending the next few years assuming responsibility for Proctor in Aix-en-Provence. Meanwhile, Eric and Stacey Viandier are departing to France for a sabbatical year. A couple of dozen of their best friends feted them the other evening. The Viandiers are to the left of Greg Allen; the Flemings to the right:

The venue was the Bicknell's place on the edge of Carr Field, where Hallie Southworth (who spent a sabbatical a few years ago in New Zealand) demonstrated a down-under soccer tackle on Kinley Viandier:

I monitored the proceedings from the deck with my buddies George Rochon and Tom Eslick:

We were invited to come in French garb. Greg claims he's dressed as a Chunnel toll collector. Works for me.
Eric Viandier will be returning to his native land for sabbatical.

Caroline Pond, who also spent a recent sabbatical year in New Zealand, demonstrates yet another unorthodox defensive manuever.
