In just over a week, new faculty will commence their orientation; introductory advisee letters will be due, and we'll be gearing up for faculty meetings. Today, however, much of campus is still, while other corners are buzzing with activity. Gordon Research conferees are still using the Meeting House and English classrooms.
The space formerly known as the Bookstore--now simply "The Store"--has undergone major renovation. Deborah and Alex entertain some young visitors.
In the Machine Shop, George and Everett oversee the installation of a very heavy duty band saw.
Of course, the biggest change on campus--by far--is the new synthetic field complex. Final preparations are underway for the carpet itself. Four light stanchions, each with a dozen high-lumen lamps, tower high above the surface.
Here is an update, with images taken today--Monday the 20th. First, rolls of turf have been positioned for application.
Two rolls are positioned together, and stretched while a powerful "sewing machine" stitches them together.
The turf is exposed and very carefully positioned.
More to come!
