Phormal Photos

I try to post a new page every third day, so I was feeling good this weekend, knowing that I'd get a flood of photos from Saturday's Spring Formal dance at Ragged Mountain. This is the most photographed event of the year, and I posted a call for pix on NEWS, so I knew I was all set....  And then came........ nothing. One exception: Cody sent me a picture. Here it is.

I was out-of-state and unable to shoot, so I would be doomed if Brenda Godwin had not placed hundreds of pix on a common server. All the rest of these images are hers, and I am grateful. The evening began with a photo-op reception at the Community Center before buses rolled for 265 students--the largest crowd to attend a Proctor dance in history.

This so-called Formal is nothing like a prom, because--in true Proctor style--we don't separate by class. It's not just for seniors.

The notion of "formal" makes this excruciatingly fun for a student population that rarely dresses up. Formality is not our style, so it is very special to bring out the good threads.

The event was an immense success, and the crowd hung on late.

We need to credit the Student Activities Office and the PAPA parent volunteers who made everything possible. The staff at Ragged Mountain loved us.

Ninth graders (below) will recreate this experience--if they're lucky--three more times.

Older kids rule below.

It's been a long time since my senior prom, but I recall being in Jackson's place....

Students came looking their best.
You!
