Working Hard; Playing Hard
9/25/2008
This was a beautiful week in central New Hampshire!

We worked hard and played hard.

Students in Advanced Placement Biology are studying proteins, enzymes and the nature of the scientific method. Working in pairs, they are conducting different lab experiments....within specific parameters. The gelatin in Jell-o is a collagen, a stable, structured protein. Students add active enzymes, such as one found in fresh pineapple juice, and adjust temperature over time, documenting their observations.

At what temperature is the enzyme (from the pineapple juice) denatured, allowing the Jell-o to set? No observations are right or wrong; the variables are temperature and time.

This year's Green Lantern (yearbook) is going to feature a collage of seniors' faces on the cover. After assembly, small groups spontaneously pose for photos shot by underclasspersons on the yearbook staff.

Friends of Bill Wightman pose while "doing the turtle."

It promises to be a unique book cover!

Now we switch to an after-dinner stroll around campus.

The Wise Community Center is the center of the social scene at 6:45 PM.

You wouldn't believe how fast Luc and Tripp are going on these skateboards.  I'm serious.  You wouldn't believe it.

Kyle, on the bike, is pulling the rest of this crowd, like a train.
Rosemary dabbling in oils.
Seniors posing for a highly unique yearbook cover.
Katie poses with Superman.
Martin is one of the juniors who is supposed to be taking pictures.
On the stairs up to the game rooms in the Wise Center.
No pressure...
Unsafe at any speed!
This maneuver was carefully choreographed.
