Creating a yearbook is such an enormous task, that the staff orchestrates group photos from the very start of the school year. Brenda announces which group will be shot immediately after assembly, starting with the senior class. Just the thought of posing for the photo as a class creates a state of euphoria, with hugs, handshakes and spontaneous sub-groupings.

While the class poses for Brenda, I sneak around and capture candids from various angles.

These are still seniors:

Not to be confused with Juniors, who grouped Friday.

The process of photographing disparate groups provides a window into the extraordinary sense of community enjoy by students. As a visitor remarked last year, "The kids at this school seem to like each other." More juniors.

Following the main shoot, Brenda invites spontaneous groups of friends to huddle for more photography. This is what you get:

Here's Brenda in action:

"Four years, baby!"
