Monday was Day One of the school year. Somebody had to have dish duty, and it was Laurie's advisee group.
The schedule allowed for an easy morning, recognizing that sports camp athletes, coaches, new students, and orientation faculty have been at full throttle for five days. The first scheduled event was a full-school assembly at 10:00 AM.
Mike greeted the school with an uplifting spiel, reflecting that all of us who bring the community's core values into our lives will be hugely successful this year. Swayz followed with a frank assessment of school structures, and the consequences for behaviors outside of those structures.
We then marched through all six academic blocks, each shortened to 20 minutes.
This was just enough time to identify course expectations, respond to initial questions, distribute syllibi and assign initial work.

By the time we strolled up to lunch, the year seemed well underway.
Three more mini-classes met after lunch, and (some) students are obviously psyched to get started!
