The Internet Service Provider that enables this website is Whipplehill, the brainchild of Proctor alumnus and trustee, Travis Warren '91. In eight short years, Travis, his brother, Kelsey and a handful of super-talented programmers and support staff have created a business with more 50 employees and more than 200 independent school clients. The websites they create are highly dynamic, enabling the school to completely modify content spontaneously.
On Thursday, I helped judge a contest between the five departments at Whipplehill called "Around the World," which featured cuisine, music, costumes and designs from India, Jamaica, Maine (a clambake,) the Swiss Alps and Foxboro (a tailgate party.)
Hanging out with this crowd, it is easy to see why their business is flourishing so dramatically. The work environment is creative, supportive, competitive and very fun.
In the first days of the New Year, Proctor will launch a new, highly innovative website that will feature novel infrastructure, streaming video of recent--and archived--events and a whole new look. Eventually, a Wiki-inspired encyclopedia of school info will eliminate the usual tension between admission-related presentation and a growing body of information. The men and women who have created this new prototype are as excited as we are, and Proctor owes a great deal of gratitude to Whipplehill. Here, from the confines of an inflated boxing ring, company president Travis Warren awards a trophy from the competition to the Rastas from Jamaica (who worked all night on bamboo and grass huts!)
