We are a few days into a vacation euphemistically named Spring Break (Spring begins on March 20, the day students return for Project Period). Students have scattered to 340 locales around the globe, and some teachers have split, too. Others--particularly those in the English and Social Science Departments--are laboring over comments that could not be written until papers were graded. Boys' varsity basketball has qualified for the NEPSAC Class B post season tournament, and host the Rams of Tilton School Wednesday at 2PM. In the meantime, let's look back at some images from the last few days and weeks. Here's a colorful scene of Proctor Pond from a recent Sunday:
Math classrooms are immediately south (left in the above west-facing image) of Proctor Pond. This is Patty Pond's geometry class:
I believe this image is from Matt Mackenzie's algebra 1:
Sciences and social sciences are upstairs in the same building, Shirley Hall. Here's Dane, pointing out the obvious in AP physics:
Edna Peters will be retiring from the kitchen at the end of this school year after decades of service and love. Her reputation is such that families visiting the admission office inquire, "Can we taste Edna's cookies?" She is delighted that we have found another talented baker to fill her shoes in the future. Welcome, Grant!
Kristofer Johnson is the director of a voice and chorus program that is prospering. New this year and full of energy and talent, Kris announced that the name "Proctor Chorus" was insufficient, and that he was accepting suggestions for a more meaningful moniker. On Thursday, as singers came forward to perform in assembly, he proclaimed the winner. Back in the '70s and '80s, he noted--before the school had a choral director--Alice Fowler repeatedly stepped up and organized spontaneous choirs for holiday gatherings and other special events. Thirty-something students now comprise the Alice Fowler Singers!
